Journal entry Monday February, 12 2006. At last the lookout tower is in sight!.
A little up-close history. The tower was rebuilt in 1957 and is in real good shape for it's age. I mean excellent shape for it's age. It looks real good and it's sturdy and tough. If only I could find something that old to compare it to.
We unlock and dump our gear. The accommodations are well appointed, even electric light provided by solar power. Nice.
We're treated to a view of Mount Adams in the north..
We start a fire and break out the new cookware (which we donated for future use).
But we can't let the day go to waste! Strapping on snowshoes we head off to the north west. At the bottom of the hill is a spring.
Er, Dave is still pretty exuberant...
