Paddling Through Portland
Page 2
Journal entry Saturday November 25th, 2006. This is Portland's East Side Willamette shoreline as seen from the river. Just to the right of the nose of my boat here is the Portland Boathouse Dock. This is where the rowing teams and dragon boaters put in for practice. It can be a very busy place, a mecca for human powered boating (yay!).

The view across the river featuring the Hawthorne bridge.
Turning around I ruin the order of the pictures and shoot back at the Marquam and Ross Island bridges. OMSI's submarine, the USS Blueback is to the left.

Downtown Portland. Look at the size of this floating log in the center of the picture. It's moving along at quite a clip too.

Morrison bridge.
Paddling along the East Side shore line.

The East Side Promenade. It's fun to paddle alongside the walkers and bikers. Sometime it's kind of alarming to them to see a kayaker in November sliding along only a couple of feet away. The Portland Coliseum is to the left of this picture.

Moving away from the East Side we head out to the center of the river. The Steel Bridge is left of the picture.
